Message from the 2010 Thorndale Fair Ambassador

As my time as Thorndale Fair Ambassador comes to a close, I am honoured to welcome you to the 154th Thorndale Fall Fair! Each September we are lucky
enough to experience all that our fair and community have to offer. It’s a time to visit with the people who share the love that you have for our town and to embrace just how far the small community of Thorndale has come over the years.

As Ambassador, I have been fortunate enough to participate in and attend many events throughout this year. Some of these events include the District 13
meeting, Farmers Night, Ladies Night, Agriculture Society meetings, the Santa Claus parade, the O.A.A.S. Convention in Toronto, the CNE Ambassador
competition and of course our fair itself. I have a new appreciation for the year round work that is required to organize an annual fair as well as gratitude for all of the volunteers that make it happen.The level of commitment and dedication that these people, especially the Fairboard, provide is phenomenal and I am truly grateful to have worked alongside them this past year.

The Fair is a source of pride within our community so I encourage you to get involved and really make the most of it this year. Enter School Fair or the Ambassador Competition, see a demonstration, cheer for the derby car you love, watch the baby show, spend time on the Midway and take some time to see all of the wonderful exhibits because we are so lucky to have a reminder of our agricultural roots each year.

I would like to thank the Fairboard, as well as all of those involved, for welcoming me and providing the unique opportunity that the Ambassador program proves to be each year. I have learned so much and take many experiences and lessons with me as I pass on the Ambassador title. Good luck to this year’s Ambassador contestants. Enjoy the fair!
